The finale of our annual charity event GIVE ME YOUR SMILE 2009 took place on the 29th of May in Ateneum Puppet and Actor Theatre in Katowice. The ceremonial gala was organized in time of Childs Day as a part of our long time program DECENT LIVING.

For this years final we invited over 130 kids – laureates of our two contests – pupils from orphanages and social care centers as well as children from the poor and unemployed families with many children from: Chorzów, Katowice, Ruda ¦l±ska, Bytom, Siemianowice ¦l±skie, Sosnowiec, Tychy and Myslowice.

At 11.30 our little guests arrived at the theatre where they were hearty invited with sweats and cold drinks by our volunteers.

The gala begun at 12.00 – the President of The Proventus Foundation Mrs Joanna Kawecka welcomed the children, attendants, special guests and greeted the kids hearty on the occasion of their fete – the Children’s Day. Mrs Kawecka personally thanked all our sponsors, without their commitment this action could not take place. The list of all our sponsors was ceremonially read on the stage of the theatre.

Third Edition of regional competition “Silesia – a cultural melting pot”, whose aim was to disseminate knowledge about Upper Silesia and its history, to promote the image of Silesia as a place of co-existing cultures of Jewish, German and Polish communities, the children prepared professional multimedia presentations.
The level of the presentations was very high, they included pictures, photos, descriptions, interviews and even vide reportages. Children from
the three wining Orphanages in sequence received their prices on stage. On the same time their presentations were shown on the theatre’s telebim.

The prizes in the competition were 3 high-class computers with full educational software, awarded by
 American foundation “
Henry Lehr Foundation”.

The awarded prices are part of Foundation Proventus program “Window on the world” – it’s aim is to make
possible for the children form those centers to work and learn using professional didactic instruments, and
to equal their chances comparing to other kids from full, non-pathological families.

We all were impressed by high artistic level of these performances and by the performing children’s involvement. There was a great applause after each performance, as all kinds participating in the competition gave wonderful presentations.

There is a holiday time coming, in which most kids become victims of traffic accidents. The PROVENTUS Foundation assists the victims
of traffic accidents, especially children and young adults.  We also undertake a number of projects to prevent traffic accidents.
As a part of our long time program “SAFE ROADS” we have prepared a special training for all the participants with Town Watch, Policeman,
Fireman.

The Town Watch officers form Chorzów taught the children how to spend safe holiday time in busy city and informed about tragic
consequences of jumping into water and swimming in dangerous places. Officers also made a practical
first aid training provided for
water accidents victims.

The Police officers from Chorzów demonstrated the rules of moving safe in a column and proper riding on a bike. Next they also made
a practical training making the children aware of how can they make themselves more visible on road when it is dark and during the days
 f low visibility.

All 130 kids received reflection lights sponsored by our Foundation.

The Fireman from Chorzów prepared a special demonstration of their special rescue services and lecture about atmospheric dangers that
can affect children during their holiday time.

After the trainings we invited all the officers one more time on the stage. The children in a wonderful way cheering and applauding tanked
them for their great and important work and selfness service for other people, thanks to which all of us can feel safe.

Mrs Kawecka thanked all the officers for their generosity and commitment to GIVE ME YOUR SMILE 2009, for the support given to the charity operations of the Proventus Foundation, as well as for showing their good will to those children who need our help the most.
The chief officers received diplomas and thank-you letters on the stage.

Then came a time for a short break, during which the children received cold drinks, sweets and donuts.

After the break traditionally, also this year the kids could enjoy a wonderful performance as a gift from our Foundation.
This time it was a play called “Where are you heading pony” by the actors of the Ateneum Theatre in Katowice.
The play took the children into the magical world of fairy tales – the world of dreams. The wonderful story with a moral was rewarded by
all kids with cheerful applause, and smiles on their faces.

Finally the time has come for long waited presents.

We have prepared for all the children bags full of sweets, mascots, toys,
sport gear and ice-cream.

The main sponsor of the packages was EXATEL S.A. company
deliverer of modern telecommunication solutions for business.

After the presents the President of The Proventus Foundation Mrs Joanna Kawecka bid good bye to all the guests one more time greeting
the children hearty.

The kids were leaving the theatre smiling, happy and in high spirits. The volunteers helped to carry the packets to the buses and said good
bye to the children.

In conclusion of GIVE ME YOUR SMILE 2009 final we find with joy that during this year action over 1.000 kids form 11 orphanages and
social care centers as well as children from the poor and unemployed families with many children received mascots and packages full of sweets

Concluding all of our activities so far we proudly find that our Foundation provided complex help to over 9.000 children and adults.
Over 10.200 people took part in our educational and training programes.
