Visit to the Police School in Katowice. The programme SAFE ROADS. On the 13th of June our Foundation, with the children from local social care centres, took part in an open day organized by the Police School in Katowice
Over 100 children participated in the event.
They came from the following centres:
- Day Care Centre of St. Vincent a Paulo from Chorzów,
- Orphanage No 2 from Bytom,
- Social and Therapeutic Day Care Centre run by the Convent of St. Elizabeth from Ruda ¦l±ska,
- Care Centre No 2 from Sosnowiec.
As soon as the children had entered the Police School facilities they had many attractions.
Accompanied by the police officers, they could see:
- police dogs training
- fitness presentations of the Police School students
- presentations on how to use different kinds of weapons
- presentations of police operations during mass events or during a police chase
- presentations of horse riding by the police officers
The children could hold the steering wheel of a real patrolling boat, sit on a police motorcycle or in a police car. They could also see the police weapons, equipment and uniforms.
Then the whole group went to the police rifle range where there was training on how to safely use different kinds of fire-arms.
A great attraction, especially for the boys, was the possibility to participate in a shooting competition. The participants received diplomas and the best shooters – awards.
After a tiring but memorable day, the kids, together with their tutors, went to the field kitchen for a bowl of delicious pea soup.
